Established in 1986 as an importer, distributer and retailer of Merits mobility and rehabilitation equipment, Scooter World Australia is proudly Australian owned and operated.

The current owners, Ian & Yvonne Rothall, purchased Scooter World Australia in November 1998, and have enjoyed building the business based on the principles of supplying quality products that are standards tested offering superior service for all our customers,

Due to continual growth, in 2004 the wholesale and retail arms were split into separate entities to allow for a greater focus on specific customer needs and to streamline operations.

Scooter World Australia P/L remained the importer and distributor of Merits mobility and home care equipment.

SA Scooter Sales P/L was established as the retail company incorporating 3 retail stores in Adelaide under the banner Scooter World – the mobility people.

In 2007, with the number of dealers continuing to grow, there was a need to relocate Scooter World Australia Pty Ltd from our head office at Welland to a larger warehouse. The current site at Hindmarsh is situated within 1km of our head office in the western suburbs of Adelaide.

At all times our focus is to be recognised as a premium supplier of mobility and healthcare products and to have exceeded our customer’s expectation through superior and professional customer service. We look to forge strong, long term relationships with everyone we have an association with.

Scooter World Australia has a small team of experienced personnel who exhibit high levels of integrity, honesty and individuality when dealing with customers.

Tim Joppich - Manager

Tim has worked with Merits scooters since 2003, starting his career as a Parts & Service Manager. His customer focus quickly saw him move into Retail Sales, before being promoted to Store Manager. Tim’s hands on experience in so many aspects of the scooter trade have given him an excellent understanding of Merits product, ultimately ensuring his further promotion to Wholesale Manager of Scooter World Australia. Given his extensive product knowledge of Merits equipment and his unique understanding of the whole spectrum of the retail sales environment, Tim’s experience is second to none as he looks to forge long term relationships his agents.

Bernie Sikora

Bernie has years of experience and ‘much knowledge ‘of the Merits product range, having worked with Merits scooters as a technician in a retail store before joining Scooter World Australia. Bernie is responsible for the efficient and timely dispatch of equipment from the warehouse, and works hard for our agents to ensure our standards of high customer service is maintained. An avid Port Power supporter in the AFL, Bernie has to have a keen sense of humour! Bernie’s humour, coupled with his product knowledge and willingness to go that extra mile, means our customers always receive the friendly efficient attention they deserve.

Sam Martin

Sam is the youngest team member and is multi skilled; his range of responsibilities reflecting this! Part of Sam’s responsibility is completing the pre-delivery inspection of all Merits electrical equipment, which gives our agents added confidence in the quality of the Merits product that they sell. Sam juggles part time work at Scooter World Australia with a promising rowing career, with hopes of an opportunity to represent Australia. Sam’s commitment and strong work ethic makes him an important part of the team.
